This report unfortunately was biased, in my view, and did not account
for other circumstances/research subsequent to the WHI study. In fact,
the Million Women Study was published early this year confirmed in
general the results of the WHI study but it too has been criticized for
its methodology. These issues still have been unresolved with continued
debates ongoing. What in fact was never brought to the public's
attention at the time of the publication of the WHI study was the
reported substantial reduction in the risk of colorectal cancer in
women, with a further study confirming this and published just this month.
Importantly, there are many women who have either surgically or
chemically induced menopause and that in fact is underreported.
The original media events surrounding the WHI study was in fact
criticized by some of the researchers involved.
So, everyone with wives, daughters, mothers the media events on this
issue are certainly insufficient to make an informed decision, if of
course that is possible.
Sandi
