How much government funding is giving to CPR compared to everything else?  I got my certification through American Red Cross as a volunteer.

Some interesting points - but could the funds devoted say to public training in CPR save and or improve more lives if it were spent elsewhere- say on infection control in hospitals, housing, or support during the early years of life? Or more heart transplants?....
 
The vaccination issue is an interesting one given the conflicting evidence from meta analyses that population-based vaccinations save lives, positively affect morbidity or reduce costs.  Much affirmative action has been taken on an emerging and conflicting evidence base.
 
Does remind me of the 'public defibrillator' debates- also a very visible, media-appealling and reassuring technology which organizations are happy to be seen to provide and the public are happy to see provided with little evidence  overall on what works and what works best for whom.
