This suggestion is not evidenced, but Hodges' model (below) from the UK could be used as a framework in rural health. We are keen to feature examples of others using the model on the website below...
The model comprises four domains, which I will list and highlight some related concepts for each:
* Interpersonal;
mood (seasonal influences), care needs, person-hood, personal meanings, comprehension, education, communication skills, personal beliefs, motivation, relapse prevention (signatures), emotional health, isolation, self-care, language, health education/promotion/protection ....
* Sociological;
social networks, ethnicity, 'family', cultural beliefs, 'norms', 'patient'-care practitioner relationship, stigma, discrimination, community integration, community facilities, community informatics, qual. research, customs, public engagement, social care, carers, support networks ...
* Sciences;
technical health care, assessment, care planning, use of telemedicine, epidemiology, demographic trends, drugs, side effects, stats, census, quant. research, diagnosis, chrono-pathological age, managing uncertainty, ecosystem health, evidence based medicine, physical distances geography, logistics - journey times, service locales, ...
* Political
equity of access to care and delivery, out of hours access, sustainability, development, law, care services, funding, community care, welfare benefits, political activism, transport, income, employment, workforce planning, policy, service integration, suicide-employment groups, economy, global warming, informatics services, outcomes, reporting - geographical info systems ...
