15th Canadian Conference on International Health
Early Registration Deadline September 25, 2008
The 15th Canadian Conference on International Health is fast approaching and is being held on October 26 - 29, 2008 at the Ottawa Marriott, 100 Kent St., Ottawa, ON, Canada.
The theme this year, "Checking In: Health for All or Health for Some?", promises to provide an opportunity to reflect the thirty years that have passed since the World Health Organization endorsed the vision of Alma Ata, "Health for All", and to collectively question whether and how Health for All remains our vision today.
The conference will welcome the presence of Paul Farmer, celebrated activist, author, and speaker on issues of health and human rights. The World Health Organization will discuss WHO plans in both primary health care and social determinants of health over the coming years. Maria Zuniga will give us some insights to the primary health care movements in Latin America, and Miriam Were from Kenya will deepen our appreciation from her years of work on the issues.
The deadline for the early registration is September 25 and we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

La 15e Conférence canadienne sur la santé internationale

La 15e Conférence canadienne sur la santé internationale s'approche à grands pas, et se tiendra du 26 au 29 octobre 2008 à l'hôtel Ottawa Marriott, 100 rue Kent, Ottawa (Ontario), Canada.
Sous le thème «Bilan : La santé pour tous ou pour combien?», la conférence de cette année sera l'occasion de faire le point sur les trente années qui se sont écoulées depuis que l'Organisation Mondiale de la Santé a appuyé la déclaration d'Alma Ata, «La santé pour tous», et de se demander collectivement si la «santé pour tous» demeure notre vision encore aujourd'hui, et comment cette vision peut se réaliser.
La conférence accueillera le célèbre activiste Paul Farmer, auteur et conférencier sur les questions de santé et de droits de la personne. L'Organisation mondiale de la santé on parlera des plans de l'OMS pour les prochaines années en ce qui concerne les soins de santé primaires et les déterminants sociaux de la santé. Maria Zuniga nous brossera un tableau des mouvements latino-américains ouvrant dans le domaine des soins de santé primaires, et Miriam Were, du Kenya, nous aidera à approfondir notre compréhension à partir de ses années de travail sur ces enjeux.
