CSIH IS NOW RECRUITING FOR SPONSORED INTERNATIONAL YOUTH INTERNSHIPS
The Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) is currently looking for recent graduates of international health, public health, community, health promotion, human resource management, disaster risk management, international development, gender and development, disaster risk management and Information Communications Technologies (ICT's) for 6-month internships in global health in East Africa and the Caribbean.
Subject to final approval from CIDA of a 2010-2011 project under its International Youth Internship Program (IYIP), CSIH will send 20 young health and development professionals on 6-month placements with the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Ministry of Health and the Environment in the Commonwealth of Dominica, and the Smiles Foundation (Sonrisas) in the Dominican Republic. The 20 internships will help strengthen health systems in the participating countries while providing talented young Canadians with highly valuable overseas work experience in public/international health policy, community health project design and implementation, health programming for women and children in developing countries, health promotion and education, and the use of ICT’s in development. Two internships with the PAHO office of Caribbean Program Coordination require specialized education in disaster risk
management.
IYIP funding is under the federal government's Youth Employment Strategy. Applicants must be 30 year of age or less, Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents, unemployed or underemployed and not currently at school. Participants will have to depart Canada September 25th and return by the end of March. Accordingly, the deadline for applications, to be sent electronically to [log in to unmask], is August 27th.
