Pathfinder International is pleased to announce the publication of
Ethiopia's Health Extension Program: Pathfinder International's Support
2003-2007, describing Pathfinder's support to the Ethiopian government's
Health Extension Program (HEP). Following years of close collaboration
with Ethiopia's federal Ministry of Health, regional, zonal, woreda, and
kebele sector offices, and community leaders, Pathfinder began
supporting the HEP soon after its launch in 2003. Pathfinder's
community-based reproductive health agents support the
government-trained health extension workers by introducing them to the
community, mobilizing the community for immunization days, providing
information and counseling on contraception and family planning, and
collaborating with the health extension workers to teach families to
install pit latrines and improve hygiene.
