Taylor and everyone,

When I first met, in 1970, the family who had inherited nearly 100 books from the Clemens family library that Katy Leary had been allowed to take as keepsakes, they had one major complaint about the way she was sometimes described in print.

They were emphatic in objecting to terms like "maid" or "servant" that were too often applied to her. Katy Leary held the position of "housekeeper" for the Clemenses, and she always insisted on that title,
they reported.

Happy New Year to each and all.
