If the Charlotte Observer is correct, which happens occasionally, today is
the anniversary of the American publication of _Huckleberry Finn_ in 1884.
And a belated birthday to Hal Holbrook, who turned 84 yesterday.  The
broadcast of "Mark Twain Tonight" on CBS in the 1960s was one of my earliest
introductions to Mr. Mark Twain.  That going out with a comet thing really
captured my young imagination...
