The York University community should take note that as of late yesterday
afternoon, Cogent Communications (provider of Internet transit service to
York) and Sprint-Nextel no-longer exchange Internet traffic with each
other. This means that customers of these two networks will find
customers on the 'other' respective network unreachable on the Internet
even if their DNS names can be resolved to IP addresses.
This situation is the result of a commercial dispute between the two
companies. Members of the York community should expect to find some
websites and some email destinations to remain unreachable for the
duration of the dispute.
