‘Peace Through Health’ Conference 2005: From May 6 to 8, 2005, the
Centre for Peace Studies and Population Health Research Institute (PHRI)
at McMaster University, is hosting a conference called, "Peace Through
Health: Learning from Action". The conference learning objectives are:
1) to review the current scope of PtH activities, including education
about PtH; 2) to identify the lessons learned from both education and
field-oriented PtH activities; 3) to identify learning needs and
interests of students and practitioners and incorporate these into
educational programs both at educational institutions (i.e.., curriculum
design) and in field-based training program; and, 4) Expand theoretical
knowledge of PtH through learning from case studies. Please mark the

World Bank commits to support youth and health education: Sarajevo,
September 7 2004 - More than 170 youth representatives from 83 countries
met with World Bank Group President James D. Wolfensohn and 40 senior
officials in Sarajevo for the second Youth, Development and Peace (YDP)
conference. The meeting summarized progress achieved over the past year
since the first YDP conference in Paris and agreed on steps toward
expanded engagement. President Wolfensohn and youth organizations agreed
to commit to establish a loose and informal network of dialogue and
regular interaction with youth to discuss numerous issues around youth
engagement, conflict resolution, health education, and much more. Youth
representatives at the conference requested the World Bank to prioritise
and invest more in youth by acting directly with youth organizations and
not only through national governments. For more information on the

1st International Conference of the Journal of Infectious Diseases: The
Travel MedicineConference Secretariat has put out a call for Papers for
the 1st International Conference of the Journal of Infectious Diseases,
London, UK, which is set to take place on November 10 - 11, 2005. The
deadline for abstracts is 11 February 2005 (oral and poster papers).
Organized by Elsevier in association with Travel Medicine and Infectious
Disease, this two-day conference will bring together leading experts for
a comprehensive and topical program focusing on the latest research and
policy in travel medicine and infectious disease. For more information

Project Coordinator position at the Élisabeth Bruyère Research
Institute: The University of Ottawa and the Montfort Hospital, in
collaboration with the C.T. Lamont Centre of the Élisabeth Bruyère
Research Institute are seeking a Project Coordinator to work on their
“Inclusion of Psychologists in Family Medicine Teams (IPFMT)” project.
This temporary position will be full-time beginning in October, 2004 and
ending March 31, 2006. The IPFMT offices will be located at the
Montfort Hospital. The incumbent will be responsible for the
administrative and research dimensions of the project. He/she will work
closely with the Principal Investigators and Co-Investigators to oversee
the project from formulation to dissemination of results. If you are

Health Economist Research Assistant position available: The Department
of Family Medicine and the Élisabeth Bruyère Research Institute, C.T.
Lamont Centre are seeking a PhD Candidate Health Economist Research
Assistant to work on several of our primary care research projects.
This position will be a one year term. The successful candidate will be
a current PhD student in Economics with in-depth and current knowledge
of health economics research methods, advanced statistics and their
applications. The candidate will also have two years experience in
research environment with progressively greater responsibilities,
including managing research. Bilingualism is an asset. If you are

Development goals: The North-South Institute and the World Federation
of United Nations Associations are announcing the launch of ‘We the
Peoples’ A Call to Action for the UN Millennium Declaration (Civil
Society Engagement with the Millennium Development Goals 2004). The
launch will take place on Friday, October 1st, 2004, 9:15am-12:15pm at
