International Health Youth Internships Program
- Deadline extended to November 1, 1998 -

Full Details for all internships available in English and Français at:
http://www.csih.org/yintern.html

The International Health Youth Internships Program (YIP) created by the
Canadian Society for International Health addresses recent Canadian
graduates and students about to graduate, who are planning a career in
health or in a health-related field. Young professionals will benefit
from significant work experience in an international context, through
six to nine month internship placements with organizations involved in
international health. The experience and skills gained through these
internships will strengthen the interns' employability and increase
their chances of finding stable employment, whether in Canada or abroad,
in their own area of specialization.

The International Health Youth Internships Program offers placements to
young Canadians and landed immigrants who have completed or are about to
complete programs in disciplines such as public health, nursing, health
administration, health economics, international health, social sciences,
and medicine. Placements include a wide range of health issues (e.g.
infectious diseases, HIV, multicultural health, health technology,
reproductive health, primary health care, health economics) - as well as
determinants of health (e.g. social support networks, education,
employment and working conditions, and work environment). The interns
will gain administrative, cross-cultural communication, leadership and
technical skills in areas such as policy development, planning,
evaluation, research, delivery and management of health services and
programs.
