Employment Opportunity – Research Assistant
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Division of Rheumatology, is seeking an individual to assist with two research projects which aim to improve the care for individuals with early inflammatory arthritis (EIA). The first project is a study to determine the sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values of an EIA detection tool. The second is a pilot study to develop and test a peer mentoring program for individuals with EIA.
Responsibilities
Working closely with the Principal Investigator and Project Managers, the successful candidate will be involved in the following study activities:
· Conducting literature searches and reviews
Preparing research protocols and ethics applications
Developing research methods and procedures
Recruiting participants, implementing interventions and collecting data
Analyzing data using standardized statistical software
Reviewing abstracts and screening articles for inclusion in a meta-ethnography (qualitative research synthesis)
Interpreting results
Preparing research reports, papers, and presentations
Collaborating with members of the research team, other staff and partner organizations
Other research activities as required
Qualifications
Masters degree or working towards masters degree or doctoral degree in community health, epidemiology, health administration, psychology or other relevant discipline
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and with a diverse research team
Experience in quantitative analysis using statistical software packages (SAS or SPSS)
Knowledge of qualitative research
Good interpersonal skills
High accuracy and attention to detail
Some flexibility in hours may be required
