I'd like to let the Forum know that Pete Messent, who for so many years has been so clearly and eloquently explicating so much of Mark Twain's work, has won major honors -- two at once! --for his "Mark Twain and Male Friendship," just out this year. This is his important and rewarding exploration of Clemens's relations with Twichell, Howells and Rogers, which Hal Bush lauded in his Forum review. 
 
Pete is the winner of the European Association for American Studies (EAAS) American Studies Network Book Prize 2010 and the British Association for American Studies (BAAS) Annual Book Prize for 2009. Pete, as many of you know, combines his sterling scholarship and elegant prose with an extraordinary modesty and generosity. You can read all about it at the link below.
