The Photo-Changers How do others know us? What do they know? Can these
impressions be changed? During the past year, a group of self-advocates with
intellectual disabilities have been exploring and critiquing art and media
representations of people with intellectual disabilities. Re-working
existing photographic images and engaging people with and without
intellectual disabilities in dialogue, the Photo-Changers articulate new
possibilities for knowing and representing people with intellectual
disabilities.On March 18, the Photo-Changers are launching their website,
www.whatswrongwiththispicture.ca

The work is supported by the Arts and Social Work Research Initiative
(ASWRI), at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of
Toronto. Co-founded by Professors Adrienne Chambon, Izumi Sakamoto, and
Ernie Lightman, ASWRI aims to nurture a network of faculty, students,
community partners, and multi-disciplinary associates, to draw from the arts
to expand knowledge at societal and interpersonal levels, and to encourage
