Hi all,

We’re looking for a study coordinator to help lead a scoping review of
Health in All Policies (HiAP) examples - please see the posting below.
A key goal of HiAP is the reduction of health inequalities through
structures, mechanisms and actions planned and managed mainly by sectors
other than health, where health determinants are framed as the bridge
between policies and health outcomes. We won’t find out if we get the
grant (from CIHR) until March 1, but it’s meant to be an expedited
synthesis so we have to hit the ground running if we’re successful.
Please consider applying if the position suits you, and please send to
all networks/contractors/grad students who you think would be a good
fit. The deadline for applications is Feb 5.

Thanks –

STUDY COORDINATOR - Health in All Policies: A Scoping Review

Background

The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has requested an
expedited knowledge synthesis that will bring clarity to the concept of
“Health in All Policies” (HiAP) and guide a health and health equity
agenda across Ontario ministries. A key goal of HiAP is the reduction of
health inequalities through structures, mechanisms and actions planned
and managed mainly by sectors other than health, where health
determinants are framed as the bridge between policies and health
outcomes. Our research team (based at St. Michael’s Hospital and the
Centre for Research on Inner City Health) has proposed conducting a
scoping review of the relevant bodies of published and unpublished
evidence related to HiAP. The deliverables of this work will be: (1) a
report on the evidence base for HiAP, and (2) a stakeholder workshop to
review the findings and implications of the report.

Description of Position

A study coordinator will be employed to manage the day-to-day operation
of research, to lead the preparation of the key deliverables, and to
liaise regularly with the team of investigators. Duties include:
•	overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the review including
the interviews (in collaboration with a qualitative interviewer) and the
literature search (in collaboration with an informatics expert)
•	overseeing and contributing to the appraisal and synthesis of
the evidence
•	writing the first draft of the report
•	planning a stakeholder workshop at the end of the project
•	communicating with the research team and with MOHLTC
stakeholders as necessary

The study coordinator will be assisted by research coordinators and have
access to administrative support. Due to the expedited nature of this
project, all work will be completed between March and August 2010
(inclusive).

Ideal Qualifications

•	Master’s degree or equivalent work experience
•	Significant experience with research or evaluation
•	Demonstrated experience coordinating a project team
•	Demonstrated experience writing reports
•	Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative interviews
•	Demonstrated experience or understanding of how governments work
(e.g., policy creation)
•	Understanding of the determinants of health
•	Superior organizational and communication skills
•	Computer and data management skills with proficiency in MS
Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•	Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Full-time position

Salary: $26.51 to $33.14 hourly plus 22% benefits

Please submit a cover letter and CV by email to Dr. Ketan Shankardass
([log in to unmask]) with the header “HiAP Coordinator
Application” by February 5, 2010. Your cover letter and resume must
clearly indicate how you meet the qualifications.

Please note that while interviews will occur in February, the
availability of this position is contingent on an application notice of
decision from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (March 1).
