If it was mentioned here already, I missed it.  I just read -The Twain
Shall Meet- in the April 2014 Smithsonian magazine (my favorite.)  It was
fun to read since I
hope I might be somewhere on the Mississippi after a trip to New Orleans in
February.

Two details in it I didn't remember ever hearing before.  One was the
mention of a young Samuel Clemens applying for a stipend from some
Abolitionists and the other that he once was a stowaway on a river boat
when he was young.
