Thanks and I very much appreciate the thought.  I have checked with
worldcat and the closest library is a private university, Pepperdine.
They have the book in their main collection at Malibu -  a bit of a
drive but in my youth I did hitch hike there with a surf board.
Interlibrary loan seems to be unavailable.  The closest school to me is
CSUN (I'm an alumni) but they are not associated with Pepperdine and I
don't think I'm eligible for loans, anyway.  I just need to find the
time to go to the coast. Actually, I'm over whelmed with sources but the
title, "Mark Twain in Context" struck me as central to my interests.
I'm not trying to create another biography, only recreate the
environment of Twain's life.
