I'm not sure how much longer we should be carrying on with this techobabble on the Forum, but just to respond to the latest "tests": At least on my computer (Mac), browser (Firefox) and email server (Comcast), here's what I received:

Heather's email was not "cured" alas, but had all the old garbage characters.

Mike's and John's were clean, but interestingly, the garbage did appear in the copy of Mike's message retained at the bottom of John's Reply message! (As it did in the quote from Thomas Jefferson, but then his email system is probably way outdated.) I suppose this is all replicated below when you get this.

I think maybe the takeaway lesson is that we should just try to remember to use plain text for posts to this Forum, and hope for the best.

Hoping for the best,

I'm using an iPad and it's perfectly fine!
