After checking the text of _A Yankee in Meiji Japan, The Crusading
Journalist Edward H. House_, by James L. Huffman (Rowman and
Littlefield, 2003), I find that Twain's previously unpublished essay
"Concerning the Scoundrel E. H. House" does not appear in total.
There is only about a page and a half discussion and some quotations
from the manuscript. The publisher's claim of the "50-page
manuscript" being "introduced here for the first time" should not
be misconstrued as "published here in total." The essay has, in
fact, been discussed in previous publications.
