Thank you all for your suggestions. I intend to check my library tonight
for the suggested titles and if no luck I'm heading for the public
library tomorrow! I've thought I must have imagined that I'd read this
in a Twain collection, it's been quite a few years. Again, thank you
all for your help. You've shown just how valuable this forum is to many
of us. Jim

It's also available online from those energetic folks at Google Books:

http://books.google.com/books?id=Rv5KAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA274&dq=twain+%22accid
ent+insurance%22&lr=&as_brr=1&ei=Ti7oR_uWJpaSiQG98qRm#PPA275,M1

Sometimes long URLs like this get smashed up in email. If the link above
is not showing linkability up to M1, then just copy the entire URL and
paste it into your browser's location box.

I beleive you want to look at a speech often titled "Accident Insurance,
etc." Harper's reprints it in the _Great Short Works Of Mark Twain_
volume, which has many textual anomalies but it readily available for
this purpose.
