A 1958 article in American Literature by Fred Lorch surmised that a great
portion of the unpublished "Hawaiian novel" was incorporated and subsumed
into A Connecticut Yankee.

There is a letter between Howells and Twain (Jan 1884) where Twain describes
the research he compiled for the novel and a plot summary of the novel's
beginning.
