Subject: Twain contest

'Tis time for another Twain contest...

The winner of this contest will get their choice of one of the following, fi=
ne in dust jacket--

Seelye MARK TWAIN AT THE MOVIES. First edition
Powers DANGEROUS WATERS. First edition
Hoffman. INVENTING MARK TWAIN First English edition
Hoffman INVENTING MARK TWAIN First American edition
Random House edition of ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN (the first text from =
the complete original ms)

Here goes...

Twain was well-known for his salty language, and he considered creative and =
effective cursing a true art. Not only the words, but the inflection was imp=
ortant, and he once pointed this out to his wife Livy when she tried to sham=
e him by repeating his curse words to him without the proper inflection. But=
one day when Twain was talking with a visitor to their home, he overheard L=
ivy curse while she was knitting in another room. She must have had the infl=
ection right that time because Twain remarked to his visitor that she would =
have to answer for her profanity on judgment day just as surely as he would.=
What was Livy's curse-word that provoked this remark?

If you find it too horrible to even think of repeating her blasphemy in fron=
t of the entire Forum you may send your answer privately.
