A friend recently asked me about relationships between financial
market bubbles/collapses and the development of economics. The great
depression produced Keynes, but what was the impact of the 1870s
depression, say, or earlier the south sea bubble or Mississippi
bubble on economic thinking? Is there a good paper to recommend?
