Hi Cari,

Although this doesn't take place in Canada, or relate to the specific
programme areas you mention, a young woman in Australia is creating quite a
stir with a book she wrote on bullying - ILY (I Love You)- One Teen Girl's
Guide To A Bully-Proof Adolescence. By Julia Weber (written when she was
14). She really seems to be gaining traction, both in Australia and in
Canada, where she lived at one time. Peer-to-peer learning can be extremely
effective in these situations, as you know, so I would encourage you to
check out Julia and her book.

An interesting media interview is at:

Subject: Request for information on work to address sexual bullying in
school settings

Dear health promotion colleagues,

My colleague, Debi Fry, works in Edinburgh, Scotland and is focusing on a
project to identify promising practices to address sexual abuse/sexual
harassment/sexual bullying in school settings. She is looking for contacts
with Canadians working in this or a similar area that she can talk with.

She is particularly interested in examples, curricula and programmes that
address:

. Overarching school policies

. Prevention programmes/curriculum in school settings

. Interagency work to prevent sexist and sexual bullying in school
settings

. Staff support, training and development on sexual bullying

. Follow-up/referral systems and responding to the child or young
person experiencing sexist and/or sexual bullying and/or

. Addressing behaviours of children and young people who engage in
sexist and/or sexual bullying behaviour in school settings.

If you know of any relevant initiatives, please be in touch with Debi
directly at [log in to unmask]

Many thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer.

Sincerely,

Cari Patterson
