- Washington International Financial Institutions Made Easy
The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade announces a new
one-stop shop on the web for news, information and advice on doign business
with the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.

- World Summit for Children in 2001: First Substantive Meeting of the
Preparatory Committee Synopsis, and Next Steps
The process leading to the Special Session on Children in September 2001
involves an end-decade review of progress towards the goals of the World Summit
for Children from a global, regional and national perspective. The heart of the
review will, of course, be at the country level. The findings of this review
will help form the basis of the Secretary-General's for the UN to the Special
Session. These reviews are expected to reflect the active participation not
only of Governments, but of the broadest possible involvement of civil society,
including such actors as non-governmental organizations (NGOs), religious and
community groups, the private sector - and children and young people
themselves. Reports of national reviews are to be submitted to UNICEF, as
Substantive Secretariat of the Preparatory Committee, by 30 December, 2000.

- Symposium-Early Assessment of Health Technologies: Do the Risks Justify the
Benefits? Oct.12-13, 2000 in Ottawa, Canada
The goals are to create a better understanding of early assessment and "horizon
scanning" programs underway in North America and throughout the world.

- Center for International Health and Development (CIHAD) Seminar Schedule
(Autumn-Winter 2000)
The CIHAD seminar series will start on Sept.18.  Seminars will be 12:30-13:30.
All the seminars will take place in room 1007 0f the Health Sciences Building,
of the University of Ottawa EXCEPT the opening seminar on Sept.18, which will
be held in room 2021 of the Health Sciences Building.

- Les Institutions financieres internationales a Washington : un acces facile
grace a un nouveau site web
Le ministere des Affaires etrangeres et du Commerce international annonce un
nouveau guichet unique sur Internet permettant d'obtenir des nouvelles, de
l'information ou des conseils sur la facon de faire des affaires avec la Banque
mondiale et la Banque interamericaine de developpement.

-  Sommet mondial des enfants en 2001 : Synopsis de la Premiere reunion de fond
du
Comite preparatoire, et prochaines echeances
D'ici a la Session extraordinaire sur les enfants, en septembre 2001, il est
prevu de faire un examen de fin de decennie des progres accomplis par rapport
aux objectifs fixes par le Sommet mondial des enfants, d'un point de vue
mondial, regional et national. L'essentiel de cet examen se fera, bien sur, au
niveau national. L'ensemble des resultats servira de point de depart au rapport
que presentera le Secretaire general de l'ONU a la Session extraordinaire.
Chacun des examens devra etre le fruit d'une participation active non seulement
des gouvernements mais surtout de la societe civile, notamment des
organisations non gouvernementales (ONG), des groupes religieux et
communautaires et du secteur prive, sans oublier les enfants et les jeunes. Les
rapports nationaux devront etre soumis a l'UNICEF, qui est le Secretariat
substantiel du Comite preparatoire, d   ici au 30 decembre 2000.
 Symposium - L'evaluation precoce des technologies de la sante : Les avantages
l'emportent-ils sur les risques ? 12 et 13 octobre 2000, Ottawa (Canada)
Les objectifs sont de creer une meilleure comprehension des evaluations
precoces et de faire un tour d'horizon des programmes en cours en Amerique du
Nord et ailleurs dans le monde.

-  Centre pour la sante internationale et le developpement (CIHAD) : Calendrier
des seminaires (Automne-Hiver 2000)
La serie de seminaire de CIHAD commencera le 18 septembre. Les seminaires
auront lieu de 12h30 a 13h30, dans la salle 1007 de l'edifice des Sciences de
la sante de l'universite d'Ottawa SAUF le seminaire d'ouverture du 18
septembre, qui aura lieu dans la salle 2021 dans le meme edifice
