The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) has been contracted by
the Government of Canada to identify and recruit Canadian technical

in support of strengthening national childhood immunization programs
in low and middle-income countries.

CPHA is seeking a Program Director, based in Ottawa, who will be
responsible for the management of activities carried out through

Working within CPHA’s Global Health Programs and with the CIII2 team,
the Program Director is responsible for managing the planning,
implementation and monitoring of all aspects of the CIII2, and for
ensuring that the program responds in a timely and appropriate manner
to requests from WHO, UNICEF and national Ministries of Health for
Canadian consultants with the expertise to fulfill short-term
technical missions on immunization program-related issues. The
Program Director will also be responsible to ensure that CPHA
complies with the terms and conditions of the CIII2 Contribution
Agreement with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
The Program Director will also be expected to represent the program at
national and international meetings and committees, and be involved in
CIII2 public awareness activities.

Candidates applying for this contract position must possess a Master’s
Degree in public health or a related health sciences/health services
management field, and have experience in the technical and
planning/management/assessment aspects of public health projects,
with specific reference to immunization programs. Overseas
experience is required. Candidates should possess excellent
communications skills, be able to work with and supervise a team of
professional and support staff, and have good computer skills.
Ability to communicate fluently in both of Canada’s official
languages is essential, and fluency in Spanish is an asset.

This position requires a high level of personal and professional
commitment, and the ability to travel overseas. The salary range for
this position is $57,300 to $67,750 per year dependant on
qualifications and experience. CPHA offers a comprehensive benefits
package and a smoke-free work environment. Availability to start
this position on April 1, 2007 is an asset.
