Mental Wellness...Building Capacity within the School Community
April 18 and April 19, 2012

You are invited to take part in this year's forum to share strategies that foster positive mental wellness and reduce the stigma of mental illness within school communities.
One in 5 Canadians will experience a mental illness; most begin in the adolescent years. Almost one third of Ontario students report high stress levels making it difficult for them to cope with life inside and outside of school.
This provides challenges for educators, parents and school resource staff to decide whether additional supports and/or medical intervention are needed. The focus of this forum is to share strategies that will address the issue of mental health in schools and support Open Minds, Healthy Minds: Ontario's Comprehensive Mental Health and Addictions Strategy <http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/public/pub/mental/pdf/open_minds_healthy_minds_en.pdf> .
Workshop Criteria:
* Interactive 45 minute workshop plus 15 minute Q&A
* Focuses on skill building strategies
* Addresses component(s) of the Foundations for a Healthy School document <http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/healthyschools/foundations.pdf>
* Notes/handout pages to be emailed by March 30 2012 for inclusion in forum workbook

Vous êtes invités à participer à ce forum afin de partager vos stratégies pour promouvoir le bien-être mental et faire disparaître les préjugés associés aux maladies mentales.
Un canadien sur cinq souffrira d'une maladie mentale. La plupart des maladies mentales se déclarent à l'adolescence. Presqu'un tiers des étudiants ontariens dissent souffrir de stress à niveau élevé qui les empêche de prendre part pleinement à la vie scolaire ou parascolaire. Ces circonstances font réfléchir les éducateurs, les parents et le personnel ressource des écoles qui se demandent s'ils doivent offrir advantage de soutien et/ou d'interventions médicales. Le but principal de ce forum est de partager des stratégies pour palier aux problèmes liés à la santé mentale dans les écoles et qui s'alignent sur le document ministériel: "Esprit ouvert, esprit sain: Stratégie ontarienne globale de santé mentale et de lutte contre les dépendances. <http://www.health.gov.on.ca/fr/public/publications/ministry_reports/mental_health2011/mentalhealth_rep2011.pdf> "
Critères exigés pour un atelier:
* doit durer 45 minutes (+ 15 minutes pour répondre aux questions) et favoriser l'interaction entre l'animateur et les participants
* doit proposer des stratégies ou travailler des habiletés
* doit faire référence à certains contenus du document ministériel: "Les fondements d'une école saine <http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/fre/healthyschools/foundations.pdf> "
* les notes ou pages à distribuer devront être envoyées avant le 30 mars 2012 pour pouvoir être incluses au conférencier
