Well said. In 100 years, assuming that humanity has not destroyed the
planet, I doubt that universities will devote much time to the legacy of
Will Ferrell. I'm not an impartial observer because I don't think he is
even funny.

Actually of the 16 recipients, there is exactly one known for his writing -
Neil Simon. Maybe give half credit to Carl Reiner.
Tina Fey is cute as can be, but try standing her next to the author of Huck
Finn and The War Prayer and see how that looks.

I strongly doubt that Vonnegut would have turned down the award since he
made no secret of his admiration for Twain. And so it goes.
