Folks,

I don't post here much, although I read all the posts and feel fortunate
that there is such a band of Mark Twain scholars to which I have access.

Some months ago I wrote of my surprise and delight that my daughter was
expecting, and that the names they had chosen were Olivia for a girl or
Samuel for a boy. They chose those names with no family references, and no
conscious awareness of any Mark Twain connection. They just like the names,
and were surprised when I pointed out that Sam and Olivia are a famous
couple of names to many people who love literature and American history.

Well, Olivia Rose Chimi Thomas was born this past Tuesday, July 21, at 3:15
pm. She weighed 7 pounds 5 ounces, and is perfect.

I could spend the next several hours gushing about how much my wife and I
love her, but I will spare you that, having been the victim too many times
of the pyrotechnic demonstrations of previous first time grandparents.
Suffice it to say she is perfect and we love her.

Regards,

Carl
