Documents reveal largest USAID health project in trouble The largest contract ever awarded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (https://www.devex.com/organizations/united-states-agency-for-international-development-usaid-45096) — a project described as a “cornerstone” of U.S. efforts to end AIDS, malaria, and maternal and child death — is reporting results that could put access to lifesaving health commodities at risk. The Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management project is a S9.5 billion effort, implemented by Chemonics International (https://www.devex.com/organizations/chemonics-international-inc-1492), that supports the U.S. government’s most important health initiatives, including the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (https://www.devex.com/organizations/u-s-president-s-emergency-plan-for-aids-relief-pepfar-48995), the President’s Malaria Initiative (https://www.devex.com/organizations/president-s-malaria-initiative-pmi-52654), and population and reproductive health programs. The project coordinates a complex international supply chain of global health commodities to ensure that items ranging from condoms, to HIV tests and treatments, to high-tech lab equipment are delivered to warehouses and health clinics at the right time and in the right quantities, effectively impacting health outcomes for tens of millions of people in dozens of countries. https://www.devex.com/news/exclusive-documents-reveal-largest-usaid-health-project-in-trouble-90933 (https://www.devex.com/news/exclusive-documents-reveal-largest-usaid-health-project-in-trouble-90933) Forwarded by Sam Lanfranco ---------------------------------------------- "It is a disgrace to be rich and honoured in an unjust state" -Confucius ---------------------------------------------- Dr Sam Lanfranco (Prof Emeritus & Senior Scholar) Econ, York U., Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - M3J 1P3 email: [log in to unmask] (mailto:[log in to unmask]) Skype: slanfranco blog: http://samlanfranco.blogspot.com (http://samlanfranco.blogspot.com) Phone: 613 476-0429 cell: 416-816-2852 Access CANCHID archives at: https://listserv.yorku.ca/archives/canchid.html .
