Tanzania’s Ministry of Health and Social Welfare recently launched a
new electronic Logistics Management System (eLMIS) and a Logistics
Management Unit (LMU) Project Charter to guide decisions, goals,
strategies, and actions during implementation. Developed through a
collaborative effort led by the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT, SCMS, and the
governments of Tanzania and Zambia, the eLMIS is a web-based
application that computerizes the existing paper-based logistics
management information system. It facilitates the collection,
organization, and management of logistics data. It also strengthens
service delivery by providing timely and accurate real time data on
commodity transactions from central distribution to end user at health
facilities.
