The current debate on SDOH list-serve reminds me of the time when civil
divorce was first going to be allowed in Italy. The public debate was
highly emotive and included the usual predictions about the downfall of
society, hell-in-a-hand basket type of arguments (as well some very
reasonable debate). One of my friends, who was a journalist at the time,
wrote a one sentence article:
"You do realise it's not mandatory?"
My response to people who find it difficult to cope with this invaluable
translation of Dennis' unsurpassed commitment and knowledge is the same.
