Lots of libraries in my area have copies of the book. There was a
used one one sale on Amazon for around $7 (including shipping) so I
bought it and now know what it looks like. I was troubled by the
positive reviews posted by buyers at Amazon but now understand why.
It i s a nice looking book. Lots of pictures. Mr. Sweets and the
Mark Twain Papers are mentioned in the acknowledgements, as having
been very helpful with pictures etc. If only someone as knowledgeable
as our own had caught the problems listed here in the forum, the book
would be fine as a reminder of how interesting Mark Twain's life was.
Lots of thanks go to various interns any one of whom might be
responsible for the unacknowledged information from books not listed
in the bibliography. All I hope is that it is indeed not being
published and sold without the extensive corrections. I also wish
The Library of Congress had not been listed as coauthor.
