The Ontario Women's Health Network (OWHN) is pleased to announce the launch of our community-based research resources: Inclusion Research Handbook and Guide to Focus Groups! The launch took place on November 19, 2009 in Toronto and included a presentation given by Inclusion Researchers and community partners.

These publications are based on OWHN's experience consulting with hundreds of women in over 50 focus groups. These resources, which are a part of OWHN's Women Inclusion Resources, are intended to help community members and organizations conduct community-based research and ensure that women's voices are included in health research, policy and practice.

Inclusion Research is a meaningful way of engaging with women who have experienced marginalization in community-based research. It has proven to be effective in actively involving visible minorities, immigrants, youth, low-income women, women with disabilities, women who have experienced male violence, women with mental health issues, and other marginalized groups whose voices often go unheard. Inclusion Research creates partnerships within the local community and includes women who have experienced marginalization in all processes of the research project.

In producing these resources, OWHN is thankful to have received funding and support from Echo: Improving Women's Health in Ontario, an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. We would also like to personally thank the Inclusion Researchers and our Project partners who have contributed to the creation of these community-based research tools.
