HIV Prevention Knowledge Base | Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision

In recent years compelling evidence has emerged that voluntary medical
male circumcision (VMMC), when provided by well-trained health
professionals, reduces men’s risk of acquiring HIV from their female
partners by approximately 60 percent. AIDSTAR-One has recently released
two new resources to support countries in the rapid scale up of VMMC for
HIV prevention. The HIV Prevention Knowledge Base synthesizes research,
promising practices and related tools to help program planners design
evidence-informed VMMC programs.

of VMMC for HIV prevention, including the following:

PEPFAR/UNAIDS/WHO Meeting - Accelerating Scale up of VMMC for HIV
Prevention in Eastern and Southern Africa

PEPFAR/UNAIDS Press Conference - Launch of Five-Year Action Framework
for Accelerated Access to VMMC for HIV Prevention in Eastern and
Southern Africa

PEPFAR/UNAIDS Satellite Session - VMMC: Cost, Impact and Challenges of
Accelerated Scale-Up in Eastern and Southern Africa
