Three years ago, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution
that counseled governments to provide universal health coverage (UHC) to
their people. Greater numbers of countries around the world are now
pursuing UHC reforms, and we want these reforms to result in reliable
access to high quality reproductive health commodities for all women.

We know that reliable access to reproductive health commodities for a
country’s population depends on healthy marketplaces and on efforts to
strengthen all women’s access to these marketplaces. In a new blog post on
JSI's The Pump, Safia Ahsan of John Snow, Inc. discusses the need for and
characteristics of a healthy family planning marketplace, and how a UHC
program can foster the creation of such a marketplace.

In support of country Universal Health Coverage reforms, the USAID |
DELIVER PROJECT plays an important role in advocating, planning for,
implementing, and monitoring the availability of reproductive health
supplies essential for the success of these reforms.
