Become a Health Ambassador! Get Screened is currently recruiting ambassadors who are passionate about improving information on health in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Two Spirit and queer communities.
Learn about the importance of finding colon, breast/chest and cervical cancers early
Learn how to share screening information with your friends and communities
Health Ambassadors are:
-LGBTQ identified or allies
-Well-networked in 40+ LGBTQ communities
-Passionate about the importance of early and regular colon, breast/chest and cervical cancer screening
-Comfortable providing information about cancer screening to individuals
Health Ambassadors will gain:
-Knowledge and resources on cancer screening in LGBTQ communities
-Health promotion and communication skills
-Event planning and group presentation skills
-Leadership skills
-A certificate of achievement upon completion of training
-That warm fuzzy feeling that comes with providing vital information that can save lives!
Training will take place in early February. Staff support, meals and TTC tokens for trainings will be provided.

Get Screened: Promoting Cancer Screening in LGBTQ Communities is a program of the Canadian Cancer Society that aims to increase colon, breast/chest and cervical cancer screening rates in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer communities in Hamilton, Ottawa and Toronto. Get Screened will:
-Provide anti-transphobia and anti-homophobia cultural competency training to cancer screening service providers
-Provide opportunities for LGBTQ-specific cancer screening
-Create LGBTQ-specific cancer screening materials to increase awareness
-Support and train volunteers to speak to their LGBTQ friends, families and social networks in every day, natural settings about the importance of cancer screening
