Today, in honor of World TB Day, JSI's blog The Pump features an article about how assistance from the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT is helping Pakistan fight tuberculosis (TB). Pakistan ranks fifth in terms of TB burden, at an alarming figure of 620,000 TB patients out of a total population of 177 million people. It is the worlds fourth highest multidrug-resistant tuberculosis burden country in the world. Although TB is a treatable disease, in Pakistan, pharmacies frequently stock out of the required medications.
Since 2012, the USAID | DELIVER PROJECT has worked with Pakistan's National Tuberculosis Control Program to enhance the scope of the country's web-based Logistics Management Information System and the warehouse management system for TB Drugs. World TB Day is a platform for organizations to raise awareness about the burden of TB worldwide and the status of TB prevention and control efforts.
