Thanks to all of you who responded to my request for evidence of
cost-effectiveness of health promotion.
For those of you interested, the CHERPA paper Michael refers to below is
very good and can be found at
http://www.goforyourlife.vic.gov.au/hav/admin.nsf/images/Economic_evaluation
.pdf/$File/Economic_evaluation.pdf. There is also a good paper on the OHPRS
website, focused on capacity-building in health promotion, at
http://www.ohprs.ca/resources/tina_finalreport_27dec2004.pdf
Thanks, all!
Diana

Subject: RE Cost-benefit analyses
Hello to all,
The National Collaborating Centre for Healthy Public Policy (NCCHPP) is in
the final stages of publishing the French translation of a 2004 study
entitled Economic Evaluation Across the Four Faces of Prevention: a
Canadian Perspective, by Goldsmith, Hutchison and Hurley. The original
paper was commissioned by the CMA and published by the Centre for Health
Economics and Policy Analysis (CHEPA). CHEPA may be a good place for you
to continue your search.
This paper focuses on the question "is prevention better than cure" and
attempts to situate it in the contemporary Canadian context in order to
inform resource allocation discussions.
We will have the translation on our website by the middle of next week,
and will include the English version as well. Our website is at
www.ncchpp.ca For Diana and others who may wish to receive a copy of
either version, we will be releasing an e-bulletin next week highlighting
this work. One can subscribe at http://ccnpps.ca/en/bulletins.aspx
We would also be interested in hearing about other recommended studies of
this kind. Thanks.
Regards,
Michael Keeling
NCCHPP

Hi folks,
Can anyone recommend good studies on the cost-benefit of health promotion?
I?ve seen one or two over the years, but can?t put my hands on any at the
moment. Thanks very much for your help!
Santé!
