Add your voice to the PEI Declaration, a call to action for health promotion for sustainable
development.
This Sunday and Monday, October 16 and 17, on the occasion of the 6th Global Forum on
Health Promotion in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, a major declaration on health
promotion and the sustainable development goals will be developed.
The PEI Declaration will be created in collaboration with the 250 delegates in attendance,
and with contributors adding their perspectives online, via social media and the Global
Forum website. This civil-society declaration will propose new strategies to increase action
and investment in health promotion for long-term, positive impact on population health.
For impact on a global audience, the PEI Declaration will be submitted to the WHO in
advance of the 9th Global Conference on Health Promotion in Shanghai, China, in
November 2016.

Health Promotion Ontario Conference: Pushing Boundaries for the next 30 years
October 18-19, 2016 at the Museum of Nature in Ottawa, Ontario
Next week, Health Promotion Ontario will be hosting a two-day conference at the beautiful
Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa, Ontario. The event will celebrate 30 years of the
Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, while focusing on how to push boundaries in the field
over the next 30 years.
In partnership with the Alliance for Health Promotion, the opening panel will feature
international health promotion experts (including participants of the First International
Conference on Health Promotion in 1986 where the Ottawa Charter was signed) discussing
the new PEI Declaration, how it fits into the legacy of the Ottawa Charter, and implications
for practice moving forward.
The HPO Conference will see the PEI Declaration’s introduction to national champions of
health promotion in Ottawa, while taking its next steps towards the WHO 9th Global
Conference on Health Promotion in Shanghai this November.
