Self-Help Awareness Week runs from September 24-30 across Ontario. In the
GTA we kick off Tuesday September 26 with a FREE EVENT called Self-Help
Success Stories. Come hear inspirational stories from people who have
overcome great challenges by participation in self-help and support groups.
Open to self-help group members, leaders, professionals in related fields,
or anyone who would like to learn more about the benefits of self-help. Our
speakers include:

Barry Shainbaum is a photographer, author, speaker and radio talk show host
who considers himself cured of bipolar disorder. Currently, through the Mood
Disorders Association of Ontario, he facilitates a support group for men
dealing with depression.

Dena Lynn: For the last few years, Dena, a single mother of two, has been
regaining control over her life while living with fibromyalgia/chronic
fatigue syndrome. With the assistance of several support groups, she now
describes herself as being "new and improved."

Janet MacNeil: After a twenty year career in Human Resources, Janet
experienced debilitating symptoms and was diagnosed with MS. She
subsequently became involved with the MS Society where she facilitates two
support groups, attends a third group, and continues to raise two of her
remaining four children who are still at home.

Aaron Bacher: Aaron is a six-year survivor of prostate cancer, having had
Brachytherapy (seed implants) on February 15, 2000. He has been chairman of
the Toronto Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group, the largest such group
in Canada, since June 2002.

When: Tuesday, September 26, 6 to 8 p.m. Light refreshments will be
served.

Where: Room 200, 40 Orchard View Blvd. One block north of Yonge & Eglinton.
