Webcast - Improving the Health of Canadians: Mental Health, Delinquency
and Criminal Activity
You are invited to join the Canadian Population Health Initiative (CPHI)
at the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) on May 6, 2008
from 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. EDT for an on-line webcast featuring CPHI's
most recent report, "Improving the Health of Canadians: Mental Health,
Delinquency and Criminal Activity". Released on April 29th, 2008, this
report is the second in a series of three CPHI reports focused on mental
health.
The webcast will be hosted by Dr. Elizabeth (Lisa) Votta, Program Lead,
CPHI who will present findings from the report and moderate a panel of
guest speakers who will address the issue of mental health and the
criminal justice system in Canada.
Confirmed guest panelists include: Mr. Phil Upshall, Special Advisor on
Stakeholder Relations with the Mental Health Commission of Canada,
Nathalie Neault, Director of Investigations with the Office of the
Correctional Investigator and Justice Edward (Ted) Ormston, who
established Canada's first mental health court and who is the Advisory
Committee Chair, Mental Health and the Law, Mental Health Commission of
Canada.
Please note that in order to participate, you will need a hands-free
telephone with muting capability, as well as a computer.
Participation is very limited so we ask that you please confirm your
interest by reply e-mail at your earliest convenience (and no later than
May 5th, 2008).
Log-in instructions will be e-mailed to confirmed participants well in
advance of the webcast. We highly recommend that you build in an
additional 15-20 minutes prior to the session start time (which is 1:00
p.m. EDT) just in case you need our technical assistance during the
webcast connection process.
