Introducing Computer-based Documentation to Residential Aged Care: A
Multi-method Evaluation of Success
This Australian Research Council funded research project with five aged
care industry partner organizations is now offering the following
positions:
PhD scholarship (Australian Postgraduate Scholarship)
Position Description: an Australian Postgraduate Scholarship (Industry)
is available for a PhD student to investigate the issues related to
information technology adoption and benefits realization in residential
aged care.
Criteria: Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent
residents, and hold a relevant degree with research component in human
sciences, or social sciences, or informatics or management or education
or cognitive science. Career professionals interested in returning to
higher degree studies are particularly encouraged to apply.
Stipend: $25,627 tax free
Duration: three years, with possible extension of half a year.
Research Assistant (Level 5 Step 1)
Position Description: a research assistant is required to carry out the
daily operation for the research project on evaluating the processes
and outcomes of introducing electronic nursing documentation systems
into residential aged care facilities. This person will be responsible
for liaising with all of the stakeholders in the project. He /She will
carry out literature reviews, data collection, data analysis and
research reporting.
• Criteria: Experience and/or training in qualitative and quantitative
data analysis. A degree with research component in the field of social
sciences or informatics or management science or education or health or
nursing or cognitive science.
Salary: $48,789 plus 17% super
Duration: three-year fixed term

Selection criteria for both positions:
• Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative research,
with the ability to formulate results based on data analysis.
• High standard of oral and written communication skills, interpersonal
skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with other employees,
partner organizations and nursing staff.
• A degree with research component in the field of social sciences or
informatics or management science or education or health or nursing or
cognitive science.
• Health or aged care work experience, particularly nursing, is
preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work without immediate supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work individually and as a member of a
multi-disciplinary team.
• The ability to contribute as an effective team member including
capacity to organize work, meet deadlines and management performance.
• The position requires travel to Queensland, New South Wales and
Victoria, in some cases to regional and remote locations, for field
data collection in residential aged care facilities.
