I'm writing to share a new Pathfinder tool, Straight to the Point: Assessing Partner Capacity Building Needs (http://www.pathfinder.org/publications-tools/straight-to-the-point-assessing-partner-capacity-building-needs.html) (also available in French). This tool help users conduct a concise assessment of a partner organization's (or potential partner's) strengths and weaknesses, helping to identify areas where technical assistance will be needed to successfully implement a project. The tool addresses key capacity areas including: human capacity, basic management capacity, M&E capacity, absorptive capacity, and community connectedness. The tool is meant to serve as a guide for interviewing multiple stakeholders at a partner or subgrantee organization. It can be used be used in the process of selecting local partners, or after partners have been selected, and will be particularly helpful for projects with a mandate to provide technical assistance to local partners.

In addition, I'd like to share new French translations of two other Straight to the Point tools: Budgeting Basics (Bases de la Budgétisation): http://www.pathfinder.org/publications-tools/straight-to-the-point-budgetisation.html and Assessing Basic Accounting Practices (Evaluer les Pratiques Fondamentales en Matière de Comptabilité): http://www.pathfinder.org/publications-tools/straight-to-the-point-les-pratiques-fondamentales.html

The tools were originally developed for use in Pathfinder's Positive Action for Children Fund projects in Uganda and Tanzania.

Additional Straight to the Point tools for working with small NGOs and community-based organizations can be found here (in French, English, and Portuguese): http://www.pathfinder.org/publications-tools/publication-series/Straight-to-the-Point-Capacity-Building-Tools.html.

Apologies for cross-posting!

Best,
Olivia
