The ASI Online Policy Forum <https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/148834256267>
starts next Monday, August 23rd! There's still time to register
<https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/148834256267> for this fabulous event to learn
about what's happening around Atlantic Canada and add your voice to the
conversation on child and youth mental health promotion.
We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the mental health of
our children and youth. Children have been out of school, lacking support
systems, and absorbing second-hand financial and social stresses from their
parents and communities. Young adults have been graduating into a rapidly
changing world, where everything from the economy to the health of our
planet is uncertain. In this context, we have all learned a lot and found
strength together. Now is the time to build on lessons learned and think
forward. The annual ASI policy forum asks the question: what world do we
want to create for ourselves and our children?
The goal of this forum is to bring together individuals from across sectors
and provinces to share their unique knowledge on the topic of building
personal, community and societal resilience for our post-COVID-19 world.
ASI 2021's Keynote presentation will be a conversation with Paul Born on
deepening communities. Paul is the Co-founder and Co-CEO of Tamarack
Institute, a 25,000-member learning community, and the Founder and Director
of Vibrant Communities, a Collective Impact movement: Cities Reducing
Poverty and Cities Deepening Community that is now active in over 300
cities.
ASI 2021 also features: An Atlantic Canadian Showcase highlighting projects
and initiatives in the Atlantic region that promote or support community
mental health; A Youth Leadership Program will support 20 youth from
Atlantic Canada to participate in the forum; Numerous panels and workshops
with leading experts in diverse fields from child psychology to education to
social work; and a youth panel featuring diverse youth from all four
Atlantic provinces.
