are a few openings left. There are also a handful of spots in the Humour and
Creativity workshop on November 14. Read the details below. To register,

Building Partnerships: a Self-Help Model for Community Involvement

Thursday, November 16, 1 to 4 pm , $15

The purpose of this workshop is to assist you in building partnerships
between various groups by focusing on your common interests. In this
workshop the participants will learn how to partner with other
organizations, local agencies and community members. Topics covered include
community-based partnerships, benefits of partnerships, parameters of a
successful partnership and the barriers to build one. Practical group work
will walk you through a "Partnership Map" which can be used as a blue print
for future partnership building.

Roya Rabbani is the Self-Help Resource Centre's Executive Director. She has
utilized the self-help/mutual aid methods to build partnership among various
agencies in developing innovative projects, such as Diversify the Source;
Mutually Ours; and Empowering Stroke Prevention Project. Roya has worked
with diverse communities in Canada, Jamaica, Brazil, Pakistan, and Iran. She
has a B.Sc. from University of Guelph and a MSW with specialty in community
development and planning from Wilfried Laurier.

Humour and Creativity through Improvisation

Tuesday, November 14, 1 to 4 pm, $15

This fun workshop will introduce participants to the basic principles of
improvisation. The concepts can be applied in the workplace to encourage
humour and creative problem solving, as well as enhancing communications and
teamwork. Participants will learn-by-doing with an emphasis on improv games
and some unique brainstorming exercises.

Neil Muscott has taught improvisation for over 20 years, giving workshops to
several hundred organizations in business, government and healthcare all
across Canada. Second City trained, his workshop is a hands-on education on
the value of humour that will leave you laughing and feeling good about
life. The Globe and Mail called Neil "the Steve Martin of stress managers".
