Our designation of graduate students is purely an attempt to appeal for the young scholars the Circle is trying to identify and support. If you would like to identify an emerging scholar from an non-academic background who has demonstrated potential in Twain Studies, we would be happy to sponsor them. I think CMTS’s record supporting independent scholarship speaks for itself and we have no intention of departing from that mission in any regard.
