Dear Editor:

It is so refreshing to finally see your public health reporter Andre
Picard dealing with real public health issues as opposed to passing on
the latest rumour about healthy lifestyles as the sole means of
achieving longevity ("Charities want the right to spend more on
lobbying", March 25). Does this signal a recognition and committment by
the Globe and Mail to begin addressing some of the most important
current public health issues facing Canadians: The role governments'
economic and social policies play in influencing the health and
well-being of Canadians and the importance of citizens being able to
influence these issues?
