Career Opportunity with the Alberta Centre for Active Living

The Alberta Centre for Active Living is a provincial, not-for-profit
organization whose mission is to support practitioners and organizations to
improve the health and quality of life of Albertans through physical
activity.

The Centre is affiliated with the University of Alberta’s Faculty of
Physical Education and Recreation and receives funding from the Alberta
Sport, Recreation, Parks & Wildlife Foundation, Alberta Community
Development, Health Canada, Alberta Health and Wellness, and other sources.

Position: Older Adult Coordinator (full-time–35 hrs/wk)

Job summary: The Older Adult Coordinator (OAC) is primarily responsible for
coordinating (and securing funding for) Ever Active Adults, a project
designed to increase opportunities for physical activity among older adults
living in senior citizens’ lodges in Alberta. The Coordinator also responds
to information requests on physical activity, prepares and delivers
presentations at conferences, and offers workshops on the topic of seniors
and physical activity. In addition, the OAC is required to manage the Older
Adults Speakers Bureau and train potential older adult speakers.
Participation on other organizations’ advisory committees is expected as
well.

Qualifications:

·       Undergraduate degree in a health-related discipline (e.g. physical
education/recreation or health promotion), masters degree preferred;
·       Experience and interest in working in the older adult field, and knowledge
of older adult issues;
·       Excellent project management skills;
·       Strong presentation and facilitation skills;
·       Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
·       Ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
·       Flexibility to travel on occasion.

Salary Range: $2,940–$3,729 per month (plus benefits)
