Social Support Alive in Uganda
"Recently, I've had opportunities to visit organizations that are
committed to eradicating poverty in Uganda through cultural, social and
economic activities. One such group is Meeting Point International
(MPI), a Ugandan non-governmental organization that works in four of the
poorest-of-the-poor areas in Kampala. I visited one of these communities
with Rose Busingye, the Director of MPI, who showed me how social
support is enriching the lives of these villagers, especially women."

Bonnie Fournier is a graduate student in the Centre for Health Promotion
Studies at the University of Alberta. She is spending more than three
months in Kampala, Uganda gathering data for her thesis research and
intends to document the contributions of local nurses in caring for
people with AIDS.
